Scent of authenticity - Thematic park of the perfumery of Cyprus

Summary

The Cyprus Fragrance Theme Park is an innovative initiative to adopt, safeguard, preserve and advance the public's knowledge and appreciation of ancient Cypriot perfumes and cosmetics. This endeavor is part of the island's invisible cultural heritage, which has retained such precious importance that the island's name (Cyprus) was given to one of the world's ten olfactory families in early 1900.
In order to gain first-hand experience, a site visit was organized on April 13. Mr. Phylactis Lazarou, the director of the theme park, demonstrated the entire process as it was done in the olden days. The historical background was presented in detail, while group discussions and workshops with the participants took place. The workshops focused on the process of preparing three distilled essences. As participants watched the preparation process, they participated in the actual experimentation. Once the distillation process was complete, the result was presented to all participants who had the chance to smell it and collect small amounts. The development process was then presented to start the brainstorming session with the three teams. This process consisted of six steps;

1. Define the opportunity
2. Explore options
3. Analyze the alternatives
4. Evaluate the risks
5. Create an implementation plan
6. Present your case

- Specific work orientation:

Participants were encouraged to think of new ideas and projects. My team developed the "Triple Bottom Line" framework, which takes into account economic, environmental and social aspects of the project. The main objective was to derive sustainable strategies leading to the implementation of sustainability in practice. Each element was created and presented for the implementation phase.

The slogan of the plan was "Scent of Authenticity". The environmental aspect presented the idea of developing and protecting the existing ecosystem, in addition to preserving the overall experience of the perfume park and the sense of originality. From an economic point of view, we asked ourselves how to create employment opportunities and how to develop the 4Ps (Price, Product, Place, and Promotion) concept in this context.

The team also discussed how to offer packages for rich experiences to future visitors and how to monetize them. It was also suggested to provide transportation options for future visitors that allow inclusive access for all. The main idea is to form alliances with other organizations, such as Hermes Airport and the Park Luxury Hotel, and to work on communication and marketing strategies for the perfume park. Finally, the social aspect was developed, which presented the social interaction on social media and how to develop it, as well as how to increase the visibility of the Cypriot culture by offering this experience.

The project was completed at the end of August 2022.
